Dubai Highlights
YOU NEED TO VISIT
Dubai clearly is one of the most famous travel destinations. It’s so versatile and offers modern luxury in combination with an oriental flair. Dubai has a lot to offer, so let me guide you through some of my personal Dubai Highlights.
Highlight 1: BURJ KHALIFA
The Burj Khalifa is known worldwide for being the highest building globally and is definitely worth a visit. It’s not only a sightseeing attraction, but it also hosts the Armani Hotel, offices and some Appartements. Take a ride on the elevator up to the 124/125 floor to enjoy the view over Dubai from a height of 456m. Those floors are called „At The Top, Burj Khalifa“ and are also incredibly crowded since it’s so famous. If you want to go up higher, you can go to the SKY platform on the 148th floor. From there, you can enjoy the view at 555m and have some snacks and drinks inside or on the open-air terrace. As the SKY floor is slightly more exclusive, it’s not as crowded as the other platform.

Highlight 2: DUBAI FOUNTAINS
The Dubai Fountains are located in front of the Burj Khalifa and simply magical! The Fountains mostly start in the evening, and they run every 30 minutes with different songs. You can watch it from a little bridge in front of the building, but if you want to stand in the first row, you better be there early since it’s incredibly crowded. There are two afternoon shows as well, but in my opinion, it’s a lot better at night.
Another possibility of watching the fountains or taking pictures of the Burj Khalifa is from the Apple Store Terrace in the Dubai Mall.

Highlight 3: DUBAI MALL
The Dubai Mall is one of the largest malls in the world and includes not only shops and restaurants but also attractions like an Ice Skating Rink, an Indoor Fountain, the Dubai Aquarium and Zoo, a cinema, and so much more.
You can easily reach it with the Dubai Metro (Stop: „Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall“), and in case you’re getting lost in there, they’ve got you covered with an app, maps at every corner, and big signs telling you how to reach your desired attraction. (Trust me, you will get lost in there!)

Highlight 4: DUBAI AQUARIUM
The Aquarium is part of the Dubai Mall and directly visible when you’re walking through it. It is an enormous building on 3 floors and home to many species. You can buy a ticket for the tunnel access or activities like shark cage diving. The Underwater Zoo belongs to the Dubai Aquarium as well, and you have to buy another ticket to access it. The Underwater Zoo houses not only fish but also crocodiles, Spiders, Birds, etc.
The tunnel in the Aquarium wasn’t worth the visit since it’s concise and crowded. At the same time, the Underwater Zoo was nice and interesting. We had those attractions included in our Burj Khalifa entry ticket we bought online, so check out the deals with other attractions.

Highlight 5: MALL OF THE EMIRATES
This mall is a little bit more outside of the city center and includes the world-famous indoor ski resort called „Ski Dubai.“ You can watch people ski through some huge windows while you shop and if you want to ski yourself, it’s easy to rent everything you need. They have different packages starting from clothing and ski rental kit leading up to all-inclusive entry packages, which come with hot drinks and dinner with a view to the skiing area.

Highlight 6: DERIA SOUK
If you’re in an Arabic country, you can’t skip visiting a souk. The Souks in Dubai’s old city are easy to reach with the Dubai Metro or by taxi. You can stroll through the Gold Souk, the Spice Souk, and The Old Souk or take a ride with the water taxi, which is called Abra.

Highlight 7: BURJ AL ARAB
Burj Al Arab is also one of the most famous buildings in the world and is known to be one of the most luxurious and expensive hotels ever. If you’re not sleeping in one of their luxurious rooms, you can still enjoy a bit of the feeling when visiting the exclusive building on an isle in the sea. It offers an afternoon tea, a sky view deck for drinks, or the world-famous underwater restaurant called „Al Mahara.“

Highlight 8: THE PALM JUMEIRAH
Another island built by the Emiratis and turned famous all over the world is Palm Jumeirah. This Island is built in the shape of a palm and houses high-class hotels and private housing complexes.
You can visit Palm Jumeirah with the Monorail, which will take you from the mainland to the Atlantis The Palm, which is located at the very end. There you’ll also find the Aquaventure Water Park and The Lost Chambers Aquarium.

Highlight 9: DUBAI FRAME
The Dubai Frame is one of the newest sightseeing spots and opened to the public in 2018. It has two towers of 150m height connected with a 93m long bridge, making it look like a frame. You can visit the observation deck with a glass walk and enjoy the view over the new and the old Dubai. If you’re interested in the history and development of Dubai, you should visit the museum there.

Highlight 10: DUBAI MIRACLE GARDENS
The Miracle Gardens are located in the South of Dubai. They aren’t easy to reach with public transport since you’d have to switch from the Metro to Busses and in the end, you’d need a taxi for the last part anyway. But once there you’re able to enjoy a beautiful park with over 150 million flowers. The Miracle Gardens are especially famous for rebuilding an Emirates A380 with their flowers. Since it’s an outside attraction, you have to keep in mind that it can get incredibly hot.

I hope my list of Dubai Highlights is helpful and makes your stay unforgettable. Let me know in the comments which attraction you like the most!
