Top 10 Dresden Photo Spots – Instagrammable Places

Now let’s be honest: who doesn’t want to take cool pictures along their travels?! In the age of Instagram, Photo Spots became more and more important when planning a trip. There’s always that one Photo Spot you’ve seen on the Gram, and you need to check out. To ease your planning and save you some time exploring the city, I collected my favorite Dresden Photo Spots in this post and linked them to the exact location.
Down below, you’ll find a mix of very famous sights and more basic places. I’ll also cover some tips about when to go. Here and there, I might have included some outfit suggestions to get you those perfect Instagram Influencer Shots.
Now let’s conquer your inner Insta-Queen and dive into the iconic Dresden Photo Spots:
Photo Spot 1 | Zwinger

The Zwinger is by far my favorite Instagram – spot in Dresden (and not only mine, lol). It’s such a beautiful landmark with so many cute details.
I’d highly recommend going during sunset since the atmosphere will be even more magical.
All of the shots you can see below were taken during sunset on a Sunday, where we found this spot nearly empty.
My favorite photo spot is the high walkway around the gardens.
Photo Spot 2 | Residenzschloss

The Dresden Residence (or also called castle) is a fascinating museum complex.
You have to pay an entry fee and you can’t only go there to take pictures. I’d highly recommend visiting it anyway.
It’s an amazing highlight in the city!
Inside, you’ll find beautiful hallways, stairs, baroque rooms, and a lot of jewels.
Photo Spot 3 | Frauenkirche

The Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady) must be the most iconic sight in Dresden. It’s located on the Neumarkt, where you can already capture a great sight of the church.
Taking photos inside the church is forbidden. However, you can climb up the bell tower and take some photos of the great view it offers.
Photo Spot 4 | Pfunds Molkerei

The Pfunds Molkerei is very well known for its iconic interior and attracts many tourists year-round.
This place is epic but let me tell you: Taking pictures is actually forbidden.
Now here’s the thing: Even though various signs in every corner indicate the prohibition, nobody cares. People are obviously taking many pictures, and the staff is ok with it. It’s up to you; just maybe ask the staff before wildly taking pictures. They might even give you the official allowance to take some pictures, and you’re good to go.
Photo Spot 5 | Semperoper

The photo you can see here went VIRAL on my Instagram – I simply had to include it here.
This was taken in front of the Semperoper, which can be found exactly between the Zwinger and the Residenzschloss.
Photo Spot 6 | Fürstenzug

The 102 meters long mural in the middle of the old town is one of Dresden’s most famous sights. It’s the world’s largest porcelain artwork, so who wouldn’t like to snap a picture in front of it, right?
Photo Spot 7 | Neustadt (Street art)

After capturing some iconic historical sights – it’s time to dive into the street art scene. The Neustadt has a very artsy, open vibe and reminds me personally a lot of Berlin.
I’d recommend simply going with the flow since the graffiti change from time to time. The current most famous artwork is the mural from the artists „Bandits & Friends, “located in the Bautzener Straße 55, showcasing the importance of voting.
Photo Spot 8 | Kunsthof Passagen

The Kunsthof Passage is an artsy backyard in the Neustadt.
In there, you’ll find differently-themed areas with cute shops and iconic walls. Snapping a picture of these is a MUST.
My Dresden Travel Guide will help you find this location. 🙂
Photo Spot 9 | Banks of the Elbe

Once leaving the old town for the Neustadt, I’d recommend heading for a short walk along the Elbe river.
Not only will it offer a beautiful view of the old town, but we also found some beautiful parks.
Photo Spot 10 | Yenidze

The Mosque-Lookalike factory-turned office building is not too famous when it comes to Must-Sees in Dresden.
Nevertheless, it’s very picturesque!
You’ll have the best view from a parking garage on the opposite side of the street. From the 12th floor of the garage, you’ll be able to take similar pictures like this one.
